This was a gift for my daughter, Michelle...aka Twiggy.
I have always admired her for her fearless spirit
and always strive to be like her...
I really enjoyed making "Purrfect Love..."
I used CBS Clear Rainbow #1 Ripple for tower
and patterned Rainbow AB Hearts on black thin Dichroic
for the scope. I love using the Dichroic glasses
in my work. Talk about making a piece pop!
And, as any glass artist knows,
just holding Dichroic glass in your hands
makes you feel better. :)
By this time I was beginning to add little surprises
to my work and I liked the idea of making 'one side'
of the tower, a completely different scene...
and yet related.
I used a JJ Cat on a Chair pin, a miniature mirror,
a tall rose brooch, an errant earring and melted
solder to create the 'inside room'.
The JJ Jonette Company was world renowned for their exquisite detail in their jewelry. Instantly collectible, they are now an extinct American company. Sadly they closed
their doors a few years ago. Their legacy in jewelry
design has made their work highly prized.
At this point, I was so in love with anything JJ that
I now make a conscious effort to try and use at
least one piece from JJ on every piece of art
that I create...I'm still surprised on a daily
basis the new/old JJ stock that is now emerging
on Ebay. I'm seeing pieces I've never seen before
and am constantly surprised and amazed at
their dedication to superb detail and craftsmanship.
JJ Jewelry is one of the great archeological
treasures of the future...
