#35 Lilypad Love...

The second I saw the listing for the 1974 Metzke pewter frogs holding a leaf, I was smitten.
It looked like someone had soldered the legs in an attempt to repair it. I didn't care though...
not for what I had in mind.

Two very manly frogs holding a beautiful lady...
At that time, I had recently acquired a JJ lady frog in love pin that instantly came to mind. I pictured her on the scope with the macho frogs holding the scope.

First I had to make the scope though. I used clear CBS Ripple Dichroic in Magenta/Green for the scope and attached it to the pewter leaf.

Next I added the lovely lady frog. Adorable...But then I needed something for the other side of the scope that would be visible. That's when I used the two frogs on a branch. I had also recently acquired a 'grapes' brooch with pearls that I put next to the two frogs having a conversation.

Suddenly it seemed like a little community...I began to add all different type of vintage earrings in a variety of finishes. Then I added a small pewter turtle and
then a gold turtle brooch. Finally, as a finishing touch I added
vintage Swarovski table tin cut jewels.

I decided not to solder the pewter leaf with scope to the frogs,
choosing instead to keep them separate.

...sweet, sweet heavenly love...

Originally was centered on a lovely
lady frog in love...

It evolved into a little community with interaction between many participants. I suppose it's a metaphor that life
goes on...with us, or without.

My sister, Jeanne, came up with the name
"Lilypad Love...". It was perfect.
