One of my all time favorite ads, hands down, is the ongoing
"Happy Cow" commercial...
As far as I'm concerned it is positively brilliant.
I smile every time a commercial airs and I always look
forward to seeing the next 'new' ad.
This commercial series alone, literally stole the title from
the state of Wisconsin.
(Sorry Wisconsin, but you really dropped the ball on this one...)
But...
I think Missouri cows are better...
and I think I can prove it.
I want my beloved state of Missouri to challenge the state of California...

The entire idea for this piece came about because of a JJ pin I
acquired of a group of cows waving. I had just seen the newest 'Happy Cow' commercial that morning and the vintage pin seemed to say,
"Yoohoo, California! Hellooooo...."
For the past year, I have been
quizzing friends, family and even random customers,
"Can you think of a good reason why Missouri cows are
better then California cows?"
I've had some great, great...hilarious responses.
The number one response, that was repeated quite a few times was:
"Missouri cows eat the grass, California cows smoke it!"

Other great lines were:
"California may have happy cows, but Missouri cows are happy
and the best tastin'..."

"I'll show you my udders, if you show me yours..."
and
"The udderly fabulous cows of Missouri."

"California cows may be happy, but Missouri cows taste better, and come with bacon and eggs too!"

One very clever response came from Tonya Buress,
sales manager of two newspapers in Wayne and Reynolds counties.
Immediately after leaving my store, Tonya had composed this little ditty
and called me:
"Other states may brag and boast,
that they're the best from coast to coast.
But, we all know that it's a fact,
Missouri cows are where it's at!"

I think Darren Agnew said it best when I asked him why
Missouri cows are better then California cows.
Darren's response, "Simple, we have grass..."

but I think English cows are better than Missouri or Californian cows!! :o)
Not only do we have grass..but, we have water as well!
Lots of it! Oh!..and all our cows are bred with that quintessentially
English sense of humour!!" :o)
