The jewelry lampshades evolved from the jewelryeidoscopes. I kept picturing a small, plain stained glass lampshade that was adorned with all types of jewelry.
So, on the first lampshade, I used some wonderful old-time Kokomo Glass in orange and white opal. After finishing the lampshade, I began to take different pieces of butterfly jewelry and solder them to the lampshade. Curiously at first...and then with more abandon, I added more and more butterfly pins, earrings and pendants.
After adding a half a dozen or more butterflies, the lampshade still didn't look right. I started adding different chains from vintage necklaces...draping them across each panel. It began to emerge as interesting. The final accents were wire and clip-on earrings that were 'hung' on the chain. Doing this really seemed to make the whole lampshade 'pop'.
And, then, I knew I was going to be doing a lot more of these...
